Community Visitors Scheme - Volunteers Required

The Community Visitors Scheme seeks to enhance the lives of the elderly who live in nursing homes by providing them with friendship and breaking their linguistic and/or cultural isolation.

Co.As.It. is seeking Italian-speaking people in the Parramatta,Hills, Emu Plains, Lower North Shore, and Penrith areas who are willing to give of their time to visit the aged in Aged Care Facilities (ACFs), by spending about an hour per fortnight with a resident who may experience social isolation.

Having a visitor come to them once a fortnight gives them something to look forward to, it enhances their quality of life and gives them an opportunity to speak in their native language, something which they may not be able to do in the facility in which they are currently residing.
