Ferragosto will be celebrating its 15th year on Sunday, 12 August 2012 on Great North Road, Five Dock from 10am to 4pm.
Ferragosto is the City of Canada Bay's largest and most popular community festival attracting over 50,000 people. It has grown in the fifteen years since its inception from a local celebration of the Italian heritage of Five Dock, to a premier event in the social calendar of the inner west of Sydney.
Ferragosto is named after an annual Italian holiday celebrated in August to honour the ascension of the Virgin Mary to heaven.
The festival features three stages, entertaining audiences with Italian inspired music and dancing. Headlining the Main Stage is internationally acclaimed singer Tony Pantano who will perform a combination of rock, pop, Latin, R&B, contemporary and opera. The Kids Stage will keep the little ones entertained with a line up of dancers, Taekwondo demonstrations, music and the Italian favourite Pinocchio and Gepetto, while the Home Grown Stage features local dancers and musicians.
Be inspired and learn how to prepare Italian dishes from local chefs at FerraKitchen; and soak up the ambience and enjoy wine tasting at FerraPiazza.
Ferragosto will also feature a classic Alfa Romeo car display, animal farm, free rides, an ice cream eating competition (see below for more details) and over 100 market stalls.
