NOTES ON SPOON
A SPECIAL PREVIEW of a show entitled NOTES ON SPOON will
be staged at the Italian Forum Cultural Centre on 15th June at 7.30
pm.
Please see attached flyer.
The show is based on the great American writer and poet Edgar Lee
Masters and the widely known Italian singer songwriter
Fabrizio De Andrè.
Masters wrote a book of poetry entitled 'Spoon River
Anthology' and Fabrizio De Andrè used some of the poems for an
album released in 1971.
From the writer who shattered the veil of hypocrisy shielding the American
bourgeoisie to the work of a musician who was a symbol of the Italian
protest movement of the 60's, 70's and beyond: The poet of the outcast, the
singer with a velvet voice and words sharp as swords. The show is spoken in
English while the songs are in Italian,
and includes some Australian music inspired by the Spoon River Anthology.
The performers are: Mauro Colombis on piano,
Umberto De Bellis on guitar, actor Silvio
Ofria and Pino Scuro, voice and guitar; .
Mauro is a classically trained, multi-graduated pianist and the leading
silent film accompanist in Australia.
Umberto is a well-known professional musician working in various bands, clubs and Community events.
As for Silvio, I am sure each one of you must have seen him at least once,
whether in one of the several television serials of which he has been a
long-standing feature, as a theatre performer in a career spanning decades,
or in his latest interest as a Master of Ceremonies. Pino Scuro has been a
singer in a few folk bands, notably Vento del Sud, and taken part to many
theatre productions as an actor and singer.
You will enjoy NOTES ON SPOON. Come see the show and stay for a drink and
a chat afterwards. All we ask is a $15 contribution which includes
admission and a nice glass of wine.
It is important to RSVP as seats are limited. Please RSVP by 11
June by return email.
