"Researching any family history can be likened to a journey with many different roads to travel, unexpected detours, ever-changing scenery, disappointing dead ends as well as many hidden delights along the way. I started my family history journey five years ago with a very sketchy itinerary and few leads.

I will continue my journey, partly out of curiosity and the thrill of uncovering hidden treasures as well as building a bank of useful information which may make the road for other travellers a little less rocky. I intend to leave the rich family heritage I have discovered as a legacy for the generations who will follow me". Michael Coco

Co.As.It.'s Italian Family History Group was founded in 1999 with the aim of assisting its members in their unique journey by providing them with access to: our Italian Multimedia Resource Centre, informative guest speakers, members' family history information and research experiences and an opportunity to liaise with other similar genealogical groups.

Our audience consists mainly of descendants of Italians who have migrated to Australia over the past 150 years. Many of our current participants are passionate about their Italian migration history and are very interested in tracing their family history. There are now well over 400 members.

The group holds their monthly meetings at the Italian Forum Cultural Centre in Leichhardt on the 4th Wednesday of each month from 7.00pm-9.00pm. Attendance at these meetings can range from 40 to 80 participants.

Each month, we invite a special guest speaker to address our meetings, and share with us the history of their own ancestors, migration history and their life and achievements in Australia.
