Italian Festa Idol

Italy Online™ and Associazione Toscana are proud to announce a BRAND NEW competition being held in conjunction with the Norton Street Italian Festa and Co.As.It.

The Italian Festa Idol Competition is an opportunity for children ages 8 to 16 to showcase their talents in Singing, Dancing or Playing a Musical Instrument.

Italy Online and Associazione Toscana NSW Inc are pleased to announce that the Auditions for the Italian Festa Idol Competition are now complete. Applications were accepted until the end of September and have now closed. Twenty-one finalists have been selected to compete in the first edition of Italian Festa Idol

A panel of judges with a variety of expertise and backgrounds will decide who this year's Italian Festa Idol will be in each of the two age categories, 8-12 years and 13-16 years. Talents include singing, dancing and playing a musical instrument.

The judges for the 2008 Italian Festa Idol are: Ms. Kate Dearaugo, 2005 Australian Idol, Mr. Tony Di Marti, singer and entertainer, Mr. James Lahood, music expert, Ms. Anzhela Latteri, musician, Ms. Laura Alda Oresnigo, DJ and musician, Ms. Simone Pirrera, singing teacher and singer and Mr. Nick Scali, Chairman of Italian Opera Foundation Australia.

Briscola Competition

GSA (Giovanni Siciliani d'Australia) are presenting the Briscola Competition. Socialise and learn how to play Italian playing cards! All welcome, all ages and nationalities.

Registrations will be taken until 2pm for the competition.

Cost: $10
First round:2pm & 2:30pm
Quarter Finals: 3pm
Semi Finals: 3:30pm
Final: 4pm
Where: Youth Area - Civic Videa Carpark on Norton Street.

Slow Food Sydney Pesto Competition


Slow Food is all about encouraging enjoyment and sharing of taste, good, clean, fair food. It is about taking time to do things slowly because this is the proper way and the results are always the best.

The competition will be judged in the "Nonni in Cucina" Kitchen with Chef Danny Russo from the Beresford Hotel in conjunction with Joanna Savill, Slow Food Sydney
