A service for the carer’s relief and peace of mind when looking after those with high level care needs

Co.As.It.’s Centre Based Respite (CBR) service offers much needed relief for carers, especially those caring for frail elderly individuals or those living with dementia. It also gives care recipients the opportunity to engage in social activities within the community they may not normally access.

Respite services are an important part of an individual’s care plan as it ensures both recipient and carer are taken care of and provided well-deserved relief.

  • Conversation
  • Games

  • Outings
  • Provision of meals
  • Social activities
  • Transport

Centre Based Respite is available for Co.As.It. clients in South-West Sydney, South-East Sydney, and Western Sydney. These services run during the day, usually from 10am to 3pm, and may include transport to and from the centre.

Organising Centre Based Respite

Centre Based Respite requires separate assessments to those organised when determining your level of care and service funding.

Contact My Aged Care to see whether the care recipient qualifies for access to Community Based Respite services.

Call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or visit the website.

If you qualify, My Aged Care will provide a referral code that will allow Co.As.It. access to the appropriate information needed to process your respite needs.

Provide your referral code to our Co.As.It. Community Liaison Officer.

You can contact the Co.As.It. Community Liaison Officer by emailing referral@coasit.org.au or calling (02) 9564 0744.

Once we have received your referral code, Co.As.It.’s Assessment Coordinator will conduct an assessment to ensure that our services are right for the care recipient’s needs.

After the assessment, eligible care recipients will be placed into the appropriate Centre Based Respite groups and details about when and how respite will be provided will be shared for both carer and recipient.

Centre Based Respite is not an immediate or emergency respite service and does not include overnight or multiple day respite coverage. For these other forms of respite care, please contact My Aged Care for further options.
