Looking for extra support with HSC Italian?
This course is designed specifically for students in Year 11 and Year 12 studying for the Italian Higher School Certificate (HSC) examination. It is intended to work alongside school-based learning, providing students with the opportunity to further develop their linguistic skills while strengthening their intercultural knowledge and understanding of Italian language and culture.
Students are supported to improve all key skill areas assessed in the HSC, including speaking, listening, reading and writing. Lessons focus on building confidence and accuracy, while helping students develop effective strategies to approach HSC-style tasks and examinations.
The topics covered provide meaningful contexts in which students develop their communication skills, as well as their understanding of how language is used in different cultural and social settings. Students work with a wide range of texts and text types, reflecting the prescribed HSC topics, to build comprehension, vocabulary and grammatical knowledge.
Through the study of authentic written, audio and visual texts, students also gain insight into contemporary Italian society and the Italian-speaking community. Topics explored include family and relationships, music and popular culture, leisure time and lifestyle, technology and media, school life, and future plans and aspirations.
The program is designed to complement school-based learning, reinforce syllabus content, and support students to feel confident and well prepared as they work towards their HSC Italian examinations.
