Live independently and maintain your desired quality of life with Support at Home

As of 1 November 2025, the Support at Home program has replaced Home Care Packages. Co.As.It. remains committed to providing quality services for at home aged care.

The Support at Home program is designed to offer:

  • more funding options
  • more detailed levels of care
  • more support for your independence

We’re here to help you understand the transition to Support at Home.

What is Support at Home?

The federal government introduced the Support at Home program to provide aged care services to older Australians living in their own homes. The Support at Home program is designed to offer more funding options and more detailed levels of care to support your independence, maintain social connections, and keep you healthy and active.

Our friendly bilingual Care Partners will be there for you every step of the way, to support you through these changes and help you understand the new process while continuing to provide high quality services that are sensitive to cultural, linguistic, and clinical care needs.

What about my Home Care Package?

If you have a Home Care Package, you will be transitioned to Support at Home. Existing recipients will be ‘Grandfathered’ in, keeping their same level of support and funding, without needing to be reassessed. If you have unspent funds, they will be transferred with you to use for access to services and assistive technologies under your level of care.

If your level of care changes, and you require new support services, you will be reassessed and you will move into the new Support at Home program. Under your new Support at Home level, you will also receive funds based on the new Support at Home Fee Schedule.

Funding your Support at Home

Existing Home Care Package recipients will be ‘Grandfathered’ in, keeping the equivalent level of support and funding, without needing to be reassessed. The only difference for Grandfathered clients is that their funding will now be administered quarterly.

If you have unspent funds, they will be transferred with you to use for access to services and assistive technologies under your level of care.

If your care needs change, and you need to be reassessed, you will move from the transitional model to the new 8 level budget classification. However, your Grandfathered protections will still apply to your contributions.

If you were approved for a Home Care Package between 12 September 2024 and 31 October 2025, you are a Transitional (Hybrid) participant. You will keep the same Home Care Package-equivalent budget but will be required to follow Support at Home contribution rules.

The amount you have to pay for contributions depends on the type and category of service and your financial situation (income and assets).

There are now 8 levels of classification for care and funding under Support at Home. This has been done to create more care options and make it easier to fund the care services you need.

The support you receive from Support at Home will be available as a quarterly budget.

Client Contributions

Under the Support at Home program, clients are only required to pay for the services they use, as they need them. Some clients may need to make contributions for some of these services depending on their level of funding support.

Support at Home has three main service categories:

  1. Clinical Care – No client contribution required
  2. Independence – Client contribution may apply depending on income
  3. Everyday Living – Higher client contribution percentages apply

‘Grandfathered’ clients, who were previously funded by Home Care Packages, may pay less or nothing due to “no worse off” protections which keeps them on the same funding level and contribution rules.

Further information about Support at Home funding and contributions can be found in our Support at Home guide.
