On March the 8th 2024, we celebrated the annual event of International Women’s Day. International Women’s Day is an important occasion to commemorate the hard work of women and their contributions, both to the workforce, our communities, and families. At Co.As.It., we are proud to celebrate International Women’s Day, uplifting the many women who work tirelessly for our community, whether they be our formidable home care coordinators, care workers, teachers, clinicians, managers or volunteers. As we commemorate International Women’s Day this year, we pause to reflect on all the amazing women making a positive contribution to the Co.As.It. community, and the many campaigns to better support women.
Co.As.It. is passionate about improving the health and well-being of women, and raising awareness for health issues that affect women. For example, this month we hosted several breast screening information sessions, in collaboration with the Cancer Institute NSW, in order to provide better education to our linguistically-diverse community. These information sessions, provided in Italian, were a great opportunity to learn more about preventative health, ask questions about breast screening and connect with others in the local community. These information sessions are a continuation of our 10,000 Italian Roses Project, which resulted in a 24% increase in the first-time breast screening for women of Italian background in NSW in 2016. Health and well-being are important elements of our home care services, where it is our mission to support people to live independently at home. Many of our aged care coordinators, who organise and personalise home care services for our wonderful clients, and our care workers, who deliver these services, are women. They bring both a wealth of experience, warmth and dedication to this important work for our community, and we thank them for their service.
At Co.As.It., we also celebrate both our employees and community members, many who are mothers and grandmothers, and the backbone of both our organisation and their own families. It is our goal to continue to forge an inclusive and diverse work environment, where women are supported and celebrated in the world. Happy International Women’s Day from Co.As.It.!
