Support At Home – One Year On

By November 3, 2026 No Comments

On 1 November 2025, the aged care industry experienced a major shake-up with the transition of Home Care Packages to Support At Home. For many ageing Australians, receiving assistance through a Home Care Package was a way to maintain independence within their own home. Fortunately, while there have been some changes to the receipt of funding and services, Co.As.It. was an early leader in helping their participants transition to Support At Home.

Thanks to the support of our Care Partners and Community Services team, Co.As.It. has been able to adapt to the changes of Support At Home and smoothly transition our participants into the new model while also welcoming many participants new to At Home Aged Care. Furthermore, Co.As.It.’s experience and leadership in the aged care industry saw our client growth increase by 24.5 per cent during the early stages of the Support At Home transition. This level of growth is a testament not only to our team but also to Co.As.It.’s ability to making access to aged care easy.

But what exactly is Support At Home?

The Support At Home program is designed to offer more funding options and more detailed levels of care to support your independence, maintain social connections, and keep you healthy and active. Those who were on a Home Care Package were ‘Grandfathered’ in, to their same level of support and funding, without needing to be reassessed.

One major change was the introduction of client contributions to pay for the services they use, as they need them. Support at Home has three main service categories:

  1. Clinical Care – No client contribution required
  2. Independence – Client contribution may apply depending on income
  3. Everyday Living – Higher client contribution percentages apply

‘Grandfathered’ clients, who were previously funded by Home Care Packages, may pay less or nothing due to “no worse off” protections which keeps them on the same funding level and contribution rules.

If you, or some one you know, has been assessed for Support At Home and are looking to navigate At Home Aged Care, Co.As.It. is available to help. As a leader in culturally and linguistically supportive care, we can help you find the care you need.
